DIXON – Ruth Helen Wickert, 94, of Dixon, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon. She worked for the Grandparents Program through Lincoln Elementary School in Dixon.

Ruth was born July 7, 1919, in Lincoln, Neb., the daughter of Frank and Jessie (Russell) Anning. She married Merlin Vernon Wickert on Dec. 21, 1941, in Clinton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1979. She was a member of Church of the Brethren in Dixon.  

Survivors include one son, James (Nadine) Wickert of Dixon; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Donald Anning; and one sister, Vera Gerdes.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Brian Tribley, pastor of Firehouse of God Ministries in Sterling, officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

A memorial has been established.
