DIXON – A Dixon police officer responding to a call received minor injuries when his Dixon police SUV was hit by a pickup truck and landed on its roof at the intersection of Galena Avenue and Second Street at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Sgt. Mike Wolfley and the driver of the truck, Charles Hage of Dixon, both were taken to KSB Hospital with minor injuries, as a precautionary measure, Lt. Clay Whelan said. Both were treated and released, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Department is investigating, and said as of Saturday, no citations had been issued.
According to the release, Wolfley was northbound on Galena, siren and lights on, answering a report of an unresponsive male. Hage was westbound on Second and had the green light when he went through the intersection and struck the police vehicle on the passenger side, flipping it.
Advance EMS and Dixon City Fire Department assisted at the scene, Lee County Sheriff’s Department said.
