STERLING – Thelma L. Adams, 90, of Sterling, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at her home.
Thelma was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Sterling, the daughter of Paul and Aline (Mayfield) Wempe. She married John W. Adams in April 1941 in Memphis, Mo. He preceded her in death on May 4, 1997.
Thelma worked as a meat processor at the former Oncken Cold Storage Locker in Sterling. She was a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and puzzles.
Survivors include two sons, Gary (Bobbi) Adams of Sterling and Larry (Donna) Adams of Rock Falls; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Dorothy; and one sister, Alfreda.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling, with the Rev. Jason Borton officiating. McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls is handling arrangements.
A memorial has been established to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
