Rock River Center offers special programs

OREGON – Rock River Center will offer four special programs through September at the center, 810 10th St.

"The Truth About Carbs" will be presented by Marilyn Csernus from The University of Illinois Extension, from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday (Aug. 19). The program will attempt to clear up confusion about carbohydrates and will feature healthy recipes, a cooking demonstration and recipe sampling.

Passages Hospice will offer "Hospice Dreams," about their nonprofit organization and what it offers at 11 a.m. Aug. 27.

The "AARP 55+ Safe Driving Course" will be presented by AARP volunteers from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 and 17. The course costs $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Registration by Sept 11 at Rock River Center is required.

"Living Life to the Fullest," a Triple Play Tuesday program at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 24 is an upbeat program for seniors presented by Nancy Ramos of Unity Hospice of Western Illinois.
