Medical coding course offered

DIXON – Sauk Valley Community College will offer a 16-week Professional Medical Coding Course from 9 to 11:30 a.m. beginning Sept. 3 at Room 2L6 at the college, 173 state Route 2.

The records of every patient must be converted into a universally recognized set of classifications or codes. The practice is necessary to health care providers and insurance companies.

The instructor Kim Ramirez has extensive experience with coding for both physicians and hospital services. Kim has been in the coding field for more than 30 years.

The cost of the program is $1700 and covers all books, materials, an exam fee and a membership fee for the American Academy of Professional Coders.

Register in the Office of Admissions from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday or between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays.

Students can also register by calling the Business and Community Education office at 815-835-6212.
