Closing arguments made in Bulger case

Published: Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 1:15 a.m. CST

BOSTON – A federal prosecutor shredded James “Whitey” Bulger’s image as a “Robin Hood’ crime boss Monday, urging jurors to put him away for life for being “one of the most vicious, violent and calculating criminals who ever walked the streets of Boston.”

Bulger’s lawyers used most of their closing arguments to jurors in his racketeering case as an attack on the prosecution. They argued at length that Bulger has been falsely accused of 19 murders by “pathological liars” and “serial killers” who were paid off with cooperation deals and, in some cases, lenient sentences.
