Wanted sex offender turns himself in

DIXON – A man wanted on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender turned himself in Monday, Dixon police said.

Andre Demond Montgomery, 35, of Dixon, was convicted in Ogle County in June 2011 of aggravated sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl, according to the Illinois State Police website. At the time of the offense, Montgomery was 32.

He appeared in Lee County Court Monday morning; he was in Lee County Jail on $50,000 bond. He has another hearing on Wednesday, his 36th birthday.
