JOLIET (AP) – A Joliet man faces a murder charge in a restaurant shooting that left a 29-year-old man dead.

Authorities say Christopher L. Thompson, 31, opened fire in Louis Family Restaurant Saturday. Gerardo Franchini was sitting with his family when the shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. The Will County Coroner’s Office later pronounced him dead.

Thompson faces murder, unlawful use of weapon and a drug charge, Joliet police said. He was booked into Will County jail late Saturday.

The victim and the gunman were sitting separately, but began arguing, testaurant owner Louis Polimenakos said. One left and returned with a gun, he said.

Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
