SUN CITY CENTER, Fla. – Harriet Wylie, 97, of Sun City Center, Fla., formerly of Sterling, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at her home in Sun City Center. She was a teacher at Challand Junior High School in Sterling for 23 years before retiring.

Harriet was born Nov. 15, 1915, in Rockville Center, N.Y. She graduated from Duke University in 1938. She married Thompson Wylie on Sept. 3, 1949, in Darlington, Wis. She moved to Sterling, where her husband lived, in 1950. When her husband, Thompson, retired from Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., they relocated to Sun City Center in 1986. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1989. 

Harriet enjoyed playing golf and being with friends. She did volunteer work at the local schools.

Survivors include her niece, Adrienne (Gene) Sanders of Sterling; and nephew, Austin (Jeannie) Allen of Salina, Kan.

Cremation rites have been accorded. At her request, there will be no funeral services. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery Mausoleum in Sterling. Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling is handling local arrangements.
