Judge: keeps bond for foster mom accused of murder

PONTIAC (AP) — A Ford County judge wouldn't lower the $2 million bond for a central Illinois foster mother who's charged with murder for the death of a 4-year-old girl under her care.

Twenty-nine-year-old Heather Lamie was arrested in late June for the 2011 death of Kianna Russell. The girl died at a Peoria hospital and her death was later ruled a homicide. She had blunt force trauma and brain injuries.

The Bloomington Pantagraph reports (http://bit.ly/13qMoAE ) a lawyer for the Cullom woman had hoped a judge would lower her bond to $100,000. But prosecutors say she's a flight risk because the murder charge is accompanied by a potential life sentence.

Lamie is also charged with felony child endangerment.

She's set to stand trial Oct. 21.
