Man receives 7 years for church burglary

OREGON – An East Moline man was sentenced to two 7-year sentences, to run concurrently, for burglarizing a Polo church in August 2012.

David Carlson, 27, pleaded guilty Wednesday in Ogle County Court to burglary after stealing electronics and musical equipment from West Branch Church of the Brethren on Aug. 15, 2012. He also must pay $50 in restitution and court costs.

Carlson was arrested on Aug. 24, 2012, after a search of his home produced several items that had been stolen from the church.

His co-defendant, Shane Nicewanner, 32, of Sterling, was sentenced July 12 to 9 years in prison and ordered to pay $2,911.42 in restitution.
