Jam-packed Day 3 in Dixon

It was a whirlwind day of action Wednesday at the Emma Hubbs Tennis Classic, with a total of seven divisions being completed or played in their entirety at Page Park.

The 18 girls singles capped the day, with Hayley Kent winning 28 games to take the nine-girl bracket. Katie Hammitt’s 21 games won was good for second, and she also won the 15 girls singles title (26 games won) and teamed with Zach Healy to take second in the 15 mixed doubles; their 8 games won was three behind winners Erin Vits and KC Knack.

Vits won the 13 girls singles by that same 11-8 margin over Avery Meyer, while Meyer took the 11 girls singles division – postponed midway through on Tuesday – by winning 14 games; Abby Aitken was second (9). In the other bracket postponed from Tuesday, Lucas Healy won 15 games to top runner-up Dillon Nitz (10) in 11 boys singles play.

Jonathon Rivera won the 15 boys singles division, taking 23 games to beat runner-up Jason Rugh (17) by six. Rugh took second thanks to a 7-4 tiebreaker against Lucas Healy, who also won 17 games.

Competitive play concludes today, with six more divisions hitting the courts beginning at 9 a.m.
