CRYSTAL LAKE – Albert Joseph Vernier, 82, formerly of Crystal Lake and Huntley, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, in his apartment at Bickford Senior Living in Crystal Lake, with his daughter beside him and caring friends nearby.

Albert was born March 29, 1931, in Nachusa, to Joseph and Lois Vernier. He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Torti, on April 30, 1955, in Dixon. Albert was a wonderful father to two children, and a devoted husband to Margaret. People will remember him for his kindness, his sense of humor, and his ability to keep his cars and his garage always looking like brand new.

Survivors include his daughter, Nancy (Ron) Kulesza of Huntley; one sister, Shirley (Robert) Miller of Dixon; and one grandson, Jack.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his son, Michael.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at DeFiore Jorgensen Funeral Home in Huntley and from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.

A memorial has been established to the Cystic Fibrosis Institute.
