DIXON – A Dixon man is accused in a recent string of burglaries of cars and garages.

Timothy M. Phillips, 20, was arrested Wednesday and charged with nine felony counts of burglary. He was taken to the Lee County Jail, waiting for his bond to be set.

In the past 5 weeks, the Dixon Police Department has received about 20 burglary reports. With help from the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, police determined that Phillips was responsible for many of the break-ins, according to a news release.

Shortly before 1 p.m. Wednesday, officers found Phillips at his house in the 700 block of West Third Street.

The investigation continues and more arrests are pending, the release said.

As always, the Police Department advises residents to remove valuable items from their cars and lock their doors.

Phillips pleaded guilty in Lee County Court last month to a felony burglary charge, a month after being arrested. He was given 3 years of probation.
