Remembering importance of Declaration

I wanted to make a statement regarding Tom Wadsworth’s dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence.

He portrayed Thomas Jefferson in costume at the Oregon VFW on Friday, July 5, at 7 p.m. A good crowd attended to hear this historian read the Declaration of Independence, which is one of our history’s most important documents.

Particularly at this time, each and every one of us must be reminded that this established the USA, and we each must reclaim every word.

Thank you, Mr. Wadsworth, for your wonderful portrayal, and thank you also to the VFW for the comfortable and pleasant area in which this was held.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
