OREGON – Jack N. Hitchcock, 83, a lifelong Oregon-area resident, died Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Pinecrest Terrace in Mount Morris.
He was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Polo, the son of William and Juanita (Personette) Hitchcock. He married Zada Ware on Nov. 3, 1956, in Oregon. Jack was employed by Rockford Drop Forge for 29 years, retiring in 1979; and then as a guard for Quebecor in Mount Morris. He was a member of East Oregon Church of God, Mount Morris Moose Lodge, and AIM Union. Jack was an avid bowler. He enjoyed horseshoes, card playing, walking, and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Zada; daughters, Zada (Gary) Bailey of Mount Morris and Cathy (Bill) Bemus of Mississippi; stepdaughters, Alice (LeRoy) Dukes of Amboy, Dolores White of Pecatonica, and Debbie Weicht of Rockford; stepsons, Harold Harmon of Oregon, Thomas Harmon of New Mexico, and Charles Harmon of Chicago; grandchildren, Jesse, Myria, Stephanie, Matthew, John, and Jennie; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, Landon, Carly, Jude, Jack, Caiden and Elijah; multiple stepgrandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Charles (Bernice) Hitchcock, Jerry (JoAn) Hitchcock and Daniel (Judy) Hitchcock, all of Oregon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jack, in infancy; stepson, George Harmon; brother, Bob; and sisters, Dolores and Karen.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Guthrie, pastor of East Oregon Church of God, officiating. Burial will be at Daysville Cemetery in rural Oregon.
