Hazel M. Minson

ROCK FALLS – Hazel M. Minson, 89, of Sterling, died Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Transitions Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rock Falls. She was a secretary at Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. for 28 1/2 years, retiring in 1984.

She was born Jan. 17, 1924, in West Brooklyn, a daughter of Anton and Palmere (Bernardin) Sondgroth. She married Lawrence Minson on Jan. 23, 1954, in Sterling. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1968. Hazel was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sterling.

Survivors include her nieces; two special friends and caregivers, Ruth Ann Metzen of Rock Falls and Irene De Langhe of Sterling; and many other friends and neighbors.  

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday and the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Bruce Ludeke, celebrant, officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Sterling.

A memorial has been established to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
