FRANKLIN GROVE – Edward C. “Ed” Buse, 92, of Franklin Grove, formerly of Polo, passed away at 12:05 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Franklin Grove Nursing Center.

He was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Oregon, to Arthur S. and Tina (Britch) Buse. He married the former Iva. M. Reynolds on Aug. 13, 1942, in Oregon. She preceded him in death on Oct. 6, 1998.

Edward served in the Army during World War II in the 2nd Infantry Division, where he served 2 years in the European and African theater. He was a standard agent for Standard Oil Co. for 32 years. He had been a member of Polo Veterans of Foreign Wars, Polo American Legion, Polo Masonic Lodge, the Freeport Scottish Rite, and Tebala Shrine Temple of Rockford.  

He is survived by his “kids,” Dale and Laura Pitzer of Franklin Grove; a brother, Arnold A. (Wilma) Buse of Oregon; five grandchildren, Jeff (Shelley) and Randy Pitzer, Linda (Kurt) Dressnandt, Lisa (Chris) Jahn, and Melinda Pitzer; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Martin F. Buse; and a grandson, Mike Pitzer.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon, with Pastor Jack Briggs officiating. Entombment, with full military honors accorded by the Dixon combined veterans organizations, will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Dixon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Veterans Memorial Park in Dixon.
