Fourth Fridays and the Music Fest
STERLING – There's music in the air all weekend. Fourth Fridays: Where People and Art Collide kicks things off tonight with the Woodlawn Arts Academy's Rhythm Quest rock band in the parking lot behind Grummert’s Hardware, and Rock Falls High art instructor Heather Shore offering teacher and student artwork and musicians throughout the downtown.
Then Saturday, the Sterling Main Street Music Fest, featuring five bands, returns to the Grandon Civic Center. Gates open at 1 p.m.
New this year is an arts and crafts show. Admission is $5 for those 13 and older; no pets, no outside food or drink.

Free jazz concert with Bobby Messano
MOUNT MORRIS – The annual Friday Night Campus Concerts series presents Grammy-nominated blues and rock musician Bobby Messano. The 2-hour concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Mount Morris band shell, 2 blocks south of state Route 64 at the intersection of Wesley Avenue and Front Street.

Rockin' for autism awareness
MOUNT MORRIS – Five bands, food and fun marks the daylong Face of Autism Palooza, a fundraiser for the The Autism Program of Easter Seals and Kreider Services that will be held from noon to midnight Saturday at the Mount Morris Moose Family Center.
Gaelic Fury performs from 2 to 4 p.m.; Surf Band from 4 to 6 p.m.; Bootleg Flyers from 6 to 8 p.m.; Grammy-winner Bobby Messano from 8 to 10 p.m., and TRaSH 80's from 10 p.m. to midnight.
Barbecued brisket, hamburgers, hot dogs and more will be available; there will be a snack tent and a beer wagon, a kids outdoor fun fair; a silent auction that includes a big-screen TV, an iPad, and a Wii; a 50/50 raffle.
Earplugs and a quiet room will be provided. Admission is $5, or $20 for a family and includes a door prize drawing. Call Keith Avey, 815-973-1490, for more information.
For the veterans memorial
LYNDON – Registration for the third annual poker run to raise money for Lyndon’s veterans memorial begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at the memorial on West Commercial Street.
Vehicles must be gone by noon, and will travel to Albany, Fulton, Hillsdale, Savanna, and Clinton, Iowa. The last vehicle is due in at 5 p.m. at Lyndon Pub, 704 First St. W.
The cost is $10, plus $10 per passenger, which includes dinner and a poker hand.

Sterling Street Faire
STERLING – The new Sterling Street Faire will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of West Third Street.
For $25, for-profit vendors can get a 10-by-20-foot space on a first-come, first-served basis. Nonprofits can sell for free, and admission is free to shoppers.
