Ruth M. Person

PLAINFIELD – Ruth M. Person, 91, formerly of Sterling, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at her son’s Plainfield home.

She was born March 17, 1922, in New Bedford, to Rudy and Sylvia (Stricher) Barr. She graduated in 1951 from Lutheran General School of Nursing in Moline. She married George Person on Oct. 17, 1953. She worked as a registered nurse at Mendota Community Hospital and Mendota Lutheran Home. She was certified in deep muscle therapy massage in 1979.

She is survived by one daughter, Dr. Linnea Person of Walnut; one son, Evan (Angie) Person of Plainfield; and two grandsons, Johnathan and Eric Person, both of Plainfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006; and one brother, Wayne Barr.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Restland Cemetery in Mendota. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday and the funeral at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Amazing Grace Church in Sterling, with the Rev. Loren Schlomer officiating. Merritt Funeral Home in Mendota is handling arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Amazing Grace Church building fund.
