The new $2.2 million Reagan Transit Center will be open for touring from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday.

DIXON – Lee/Ogle Transportation System is showing off its new $2.2 million Reagan Transit Center at an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday.

The facility, at 210 E. Progress Drive, just south of Interstate 88 off state Route 26, will serve as the home hub for the bus system. It has a waiting area, a dispatch area, offices, a conference room and maintenance bays.

The center was built using federal American Recovery and Reinvestment dollars, an initiative that started more than 4 years ago with grant applications.

Executive Director Jaime Blatti said the system has about 120,000 riders a year, including a bus that makes daily trips to Sauk Valley Community College.

In-town trips on LOTS are $2 and out-of-town trips are 35 cents a mile.

Call 815-288-2117 or go to www.lotsil.org to schedule a ride or for more information about the Reagan Transit Center’s open house.
