Marion Boone Long

STERLING – Marion Boone Long, 91, of Sterling, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Coventry Living Center in Sterling.

Marion was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Detroit, the daughter of Edwin “Eddie” and Margaret (Imm) Boone. She married Eugene A. Long on Oct. 8, 1942, in Sterling. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2002. Marion was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sterling. She had many interests, including horses, water sports, global travel, and snow skiing late in life, which she loved.  

For more than 25 years, Marion and her husband enjoyed wintering in the Florida Keys. They relished the many trips to Tennessee and Colorado to visit her sons and all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her two sons, Dennis (Bobbie) Long of Nashville, Tenn., and Bruce Long of Salida, Colo.; five grandchildren, Matthew (Mandy) Long and Ellen (Steve) Cobble, both of Chattanooga, Tenn., Dr. Troy (Melissa) Long and Kelly Long, both of Denver, and Stacy (Steve) Sesnie of Albuquerque, N.M.; and seven great-grandchildren, Alex Long, Brennen Long, Ashley Sesnie, Sara Sesnie, Lauren Sesnie, Cody Long, and Stella Cobble.

She also was preceded in death by her brother, Daniel Boone.

A memorial service will be at a later date. Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley, 264 state Route 2, Dixon, IL 61021.
