Thomas C. Fruin

GRAND DETOUR – Thomas C. Fruin, 87, of Grand Detour, died Saturday, July 21, 2013, at KSB Hospital in Dixon.

He was born Aug. 19, 1925, in Aurora, the son of Thomas and Mary (Davis) Fruin. Thomas served in the Army from 1944 to 1946. He married Claudia Malach on July 8, 1950, in Sublette. She preceded him in death on Aug. 29, 2011. Thomas was a brick mason from 1950 until he retired in 1978.

He is survived by his son, Gary (Gayle) Fruin; daughter, Patti (Doug) Carey; and grandsons, Chad, Brian and Matt.

He also was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter in infancy.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Randy Hawn for his many years of friendship and neighborly assistance.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services for Thomas and his wife Claudia will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grand Detour Cemetery, with military graveside honors accorded by the Combined Veterans Group. Jones Funeral Home in Dixon is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
