MESA, Ariz. – Marvin Schrader, 87, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Sterling, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2013.

Marvin was born Sept. 30, 1925, in Sterling, the son of Frank and Sarah Schrader. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He married Ervalee Weed on Nov. 6, 1947.

He worked as a building contractor for many years, and later as a yard foreman at Simpson-Powellson Lumber Co. in Sterling. He enjoyed gardening and taking rides with his family and friends in their Volkswagen convertible.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years; one son, Daniel (Kay) Schrader of Darby, Mont.; two daughters, Debra (Jim) Howard of Mesa and Diane (George) Stange of Sterling; two grandsons, Nicholas (Anjie) Stange and Neal (Meredith) Stange, both of Rock Falls; and three great-grandchildren, Jack Stange, Logan Stange, and Molly Buck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Leslie, Bernard, and Willis Schrader.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Sonoran Skies Mortuary in Mesa, Ariz., is handling arrangements.
