ROCK FALLS – Dale M. “Mike” Etheridge, 81, of Rock Falls, died Thursday, July 18, 2013, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

He was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Amboy, the son of Lyle and Florine (Wheaton) Etheridge. He had worked for RB & W Plating Co. in Rock Falls for many years before retiring. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. Mike was a veteran of the Army during the Korean War.

He married Ann Farley on Oct. 25, 1952, at St. Patrick Church in Amboy. In their 62 years of marriage, they never failed to kiss each other hello or goodbye.

Survivors include his wife, Ann of Rock Falls; his children, Connie (Dave) Woodhurst of Rock Falls, Sue Matera of Sterling, Mike (Max) Etheridge of La Quinta, Calif., Steve (Sherry) Etheridge of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Sherry Law of Rock Falls; seven grandchildren, Adrian Roberts, Brian Etheridge, Eric Matera, Ondrea Brady, Tyler Law, Rabecca Woodhurst, and Megan Dillon; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ted Etheridge of Amboy and Kerm Etheridge of Sheridan; and one sister, Joan Etheridge of West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Virgil Dewey; grandson, Jeremy Etheridge; two sisters, Helen and Hazel; and two sons-in-law, Floyd Matera and Fred Roberts.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at United First Church in Amboy, with the Rev. Charles Jeanblanc, pastor, officiating. Burial, with military graveside honors by the Amboy American Legion, will be at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established.
