Four counties to see $3.25 million in bridge, road work

The state will pay about $3.25 million for bridge and road work in the Sauk Valley, the governor’s office said Thursday.

The projects will be administered by the state Department of Transportation. 

-- In Whiteside County, Civil Constructors Inc. of Freeport was the low bidder on two projects: $813,831 to finish resurfacing and other work on Coleta Road from Holly to Pilgrim roads, and $140,401 to resurface three-quarters of a mile of Moline Road near Sand Road.

-- In Lee County, two bridges carrying Interstate 39 over Perry Road will be cleaned and painted for $341,000 by Eagle Painting & Maintenance Co., Inc. of Lansing.

A bridge carrying Tampico Road over a branch of the Green River about 6.5 miles southwest of Harmon will be replaced for $209,976 by Curnyn Construction Co. of Geneseo.

Milling and resurfacing will be done on portions of state Route 251 from U.S. Route 30 to Chicago Road for $87,332 by William Charles Construction Co. of Loves Park.

-- In Ogle County, Eagle will paint two bridges carrying I-39 over I-88 for $794,051.

William Charles Construction also will finish repaving Veterans Parkway from Route 251 to South Main Street in Rochelle, and do shoulder and curb and gutter work, for $461,986, and will replace a light tower at the I-39 northbound ramp to I-88 westbound near Rochelle for $49,515.

-- In Carroll County, the concrete deck of a bridge carrying state Route 78 over a tributary of the east fork of Plum River 4 miles north of Mount Carroll will be replaced. Civil Constructors had the lowest bid, $358,754.
