Deadline coming Friday to seek electric bill help

ROCK FALLS – A one-time payment of $150 to help pay for summer electric bills is available to low-income households through the Tri-County Opportunities Council.

To be eligible, a household must have a member 60 or older or with disabilities, a child younger than 5, or someone with a medical need. The applicant must prove the household meets income guidelines, have energy bills in his or her name, and provide photocopies of all household members’ Social Security cards and medical cards.

The program ends Friday, or sooner if the funds run out.

The total income for 30 days before to the date of application cannot exceed $1,436 for a one-person household, $1,939 for two people; $2,441 for three; $2,944 for four; $3,446 for five and $3,949 for six people.

Tri-County Opportunities Council covers Lee, Ogle, Whiteside, Carroll, Bureau, LaSalle, Marshall and Putnam counties.
