ROCK FALLS – Tons of activities are afoot – apaws? – this summer at Happy Tails Humane Society and Animal Shelter.

First, the shelter is launching a new program Wednesday called Meet Your Match.

Designed by experts with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Meet Your Match quizzes potential pet parents and uses the information to pair them with specific dogs and cats at the shelter, based on the animal’s personality and the potential owner’s lifestyle and preferences.

In addition, the shelter has reduced its cat and kitten adoption fees through Aug. 18.

Kittens may be adopted for $35 or $45, adult cats are $25, and senior and select cats are available for $10. The fees include vaccinations, a spay or neuter, and a microchip.

Also, sign-up is on for the annual Happy Tails “Paws Open” Golf Outing Aug. 9 at Emerald Hill Golf Course in Sterling. Registration and lunch start at noon, play starts at 1 p.m.

The cost is $65 each or $250 for a foursome, which includes lunch, 18 holes, a cart and prizes. Those not golfing can have lunch for $15. Sponsorships are available for $100.

There also will be raffles and a silent auction.

Call 815-632-7115 or email staceydetra@yahoo.com to be an outing sponsor or to donate items.

Finally, the shelter plans to hold a craft fair on site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 24. Vendors are invited to sign up; the fee is $15 for each 10-by-10-foot space.

Registration forms are available at its website.

Happy Tails is a nonprofit, no-kill shelter at 1408 McNeil Road in Rock Falls, between Dixon Avenue and U.S. Route 30. It is open from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday through Sunday, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
