MORRISON – Strides for Students, a 5K run/walk for all ages, will be Aug. 10.
This fundraiser for the Morrison Schools Foundation will start at 8 a.m. at Morrison- Rockwood State Park, 18750 Lake Road, near the Cedar Ridge Pavilion.
The Morrison High School Class of 1993 planned the race for its 20-year reunion. Racers will loop through the park’s three campgrounds.
The course is fairly flat and fast, and contains no turnarounds. About half of it is shaded.
Race-day registration and packet pick-up will be at the pavilion beginning at 7 a.m. To be guaranteed a T-shirt, runners and walkers should register at www.stridesforstudents.org in advance. The cost is $15 before Aug. 3 and $20 thereafter.
Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age group and to the top male and female Morrison High School alumni.
Awards with a Class of 1993 theme also will be given to the first male and female who finish closest to 19:93; who were born in 1993; who are in the Class of 1993; the 93rd registrant; the 93rd finisher; the person who drove the closest to 93 miles to get to the race; the person closest to age 93; and the first finisher who has both a 9 and a 3 in their time.
