Teen Turf’s celebration party Friday

Published: Thursday, July 18, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

We had a blast this summer “traveling” around the world at Teen Turf. The kids learned a lot about how people live in different places. This summer they visited five different countries.

Week 1: We started off camp learning about diversity and accepting                        others for who they are.

Week 2: We learned about Scotland and the Loch Ness Monster.

Week 3: We traveled all the way to China and made decorative lanterns.

Week 4: The kids took a trip to Peru where they made metal suns and woven placemats.

Week 5: We flew to Nigeria and learned about how they use rain sticks during their dry season. They also had the opportunity to learn about how important bead work is and they made their own bracelets and necklaces.

Week 6: Our final destination was Australia, where the kids made their own kangaroos, boomerangs or cave paintings.

We have had a busy summer learning about all these different countries. We would like to invite your whole family to our end-of-the-year party.

Please join us at Teen Turf for our carnival-themed party. It will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. There will be free food, drinks, and, of course, Big Bertha and Big Betty.

Please remember to wear your suits, sunscreen and bug spray. We encourage you to bring the whole family to come and celebrate with us. We hope to see you next summer.
