Moving forward to revive city’s Memorial Pool

I’m a former patron of Memorial Pool, and also a Navy veteran. With the pool being a veterans’ memorial, it has a special place in my heart because I lost friends in wartime in sacrifice to this great country of ours.

Having sacrificed a great deal in order to call myself a veteran means a whole lot to me. I lost out on time with my family and friends that I can never get back. This may just be a pool for some, but for me it will be a trophy and a place to cement memories with my children, and hopefully grandchildren, someday.

I learned how to swim in that pool, and those lessons echoed throughout my life in the Navy from knowing how to swim in boot camp and in the Persian Gulf. With those swim lessons my dad had at Memorial Pool that were passed down to me in that same pool, I was able to do my job and gain some much-needed relief from the heat in the Persian Gulf.

Now it’s time for me to spearhead the campaign to revive this trophy to my fellow veterans, the living and the ones who have passed on. I want to get the message of how important this pool truly is to not just me but an entire community. With the skills that I have as a third-generation painter and contractor in a local business, I undoubtedly can turn our Memorial Pool into the diamond that she once was.

Thank you for your time, and I truly hope that you, as a voice to our community, do everything that you possibly can to get as many people as possible moving in the right direction to have this wonderful place up and operational as soon as possible.
