ASHTON – Marlene A. Larson, 75, of Ashton, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at KSB Hospital in Dixon.

She was born May 10, 1938, to Adolf and Alvina Kuffle in Spring Valley. She graduated from the St. Anthony nursing program in Rockford. She married Ron Larson on Sept. 19, 1959, in Walton. She worked for St. Anthony Medical Center and Rochelle Community Hospital before joining her husband, Ron, at Ron’s Food Market in Ashton. She liked to vacation and fish up north in Wisconsin. She loved going to her grandchildren’s, and later her great-grandchildren’s, sporting events.

She is survived by her husband, Ron, son, Jeff (Susan) Larson, and daughter, Vicki (James) Essex, all of Ashton; and two sisters, Janice (Donald) Reinhold of Franklin Grove, and Leanne (Dale) Vesta of Sycamore. She also leaves behind her precious grandchildren, Patrick, Alyssa, Michael, and Alisyn; and her precious great-grandchildren, Mason and Noah.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Beverage-Lyons Family Funeral Home, 601 Richardson St., Ashton. Visitation also will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, with the funeral at 11 a.m., at St. John Lutheran Church in Ashton, with the Rev. Jonathan Black officiating. Interment will be at Ashton Cemetery.
