Earl W. Grater

MORRISON – Earl W. Grater, 92, of Morrison, died Thursday, July 11, 2013, at Pleasant View Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Morrison. He farmed in the Malvern area of rural Morrison, and worked for Frantz Manufacturing Co. in Sterling for 26 years.  

Earl was born Aug. 31, 1920, in Malvern, the son of William E. and Hazel M. (Book) Grater. He married Betty L. Linder on March 8, 1942, in Morrison. He was a member of Morrison United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Cheryl (Ron) Bielema of Canton, Cathy (Chuck) Berschinski of Mahomet, Judy (Dennis) Goossens of Lyndon, Linnette Keller of Laguna Vista, Texas, and Leanne Dykema of Morrison; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Smith of Sterling.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons-in-law, Eddie Keller and Marty Dykema; one sister, Darlene Feldman; and one brother, Delbert Grater.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Morrison United Methodist Church. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Ryan Sutton, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Rock Creek Cemetery in Malvern. Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home in Morrison is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established.
