Troops get ready to run

MILLEDGDVILLE – Scouts prepare for a 5K event scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Sept. 7.

Chadwick/Milledgeville Boy Scout Troop 55 members will host the “Troop Trek” run/walk at the intersection of Main Street and Dutchtown Road.

Anyone can compete in the run/walk. Categories include those 14 and younger, 14 to 19, 20 to 29; 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 years and older.

Registration before the Aug. 9 deadline will be $20 per person. Race day registration will be accepted for $23.

Sign-up will start at 7 a.m. at the Milledgeville Men’s Club on North Main Street.

Medals and shirts will be awarded.

Money raised will support scouts and leaders attending resident camps, district activities, and a local campout, and with buying gear and other items.

There are 17 Boy Scouts in Troop 55 ranging from fifth grade to high school age. Seven of them are Life rank scouts working on their Eagle Rank.
