Looks forward to Saturday’s praise concert

Published: Thursday, July 11, 2013 1:15 a.m. CDT

I look forward to Dennis Jernigan’s Praise and Worship Concert from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Grandon Civic Center in Sterling. Admission is free, but a free-will offering will be taken to help defray expenses.

I have recently become familiar with Jernigan’s music, such as “You Are My All in All,” “I Bless the Name of the Lamb of Glory,” and “When the Night is Falling,” and found them to be beautiful and inspirational. He has written hundreds of songs that are sung all over the world.

I am also pleased that our local New Vocal Blend group will open the concert.

The concert is sponsored by the Big Red Church (First Congregational Church, 311 Second Ave., in Sterling). In case of rain, the concert will be moved to the Big Red Church two blocks west of the Grandon Civic Center. Contact the church at 815-625-5112 with questions.

I am also happy that Jernigan has agreed to conduct the Big Red Church worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday.

I hope that many of you will join me in listening to Dennis Jernigan at one of these wonderful events.
