Harvest fest, fiber fair on tap this weekend

FRANKLIN GROVE – The 34th Franklin Grove Summer Harvest Festival and the Chaplain Creek Fiber Fair offer a dizzying array of activities this weekend.

The 3-day harvest fest begins Friday and features citywide yard sales, an art show, a quilt show, a big rig show, an antique equipment show, a parade, tours of Nachusa Grasslands and the grist mill, a kickball tournament, food vendors and raffles.

The fiber fair runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at historic Chaplain Creek Village.

There will be spinning and weaving demonstrations, fiber vendors and artists, tours of the village, archery demonstrations, live bluegrass and folk music, re-enactors portraying life in the 1800s, a Chaplain Creek Muzzle Loaders encampment, and concessions.

Admission is free.
