Chester S. 'Chet' Rakowski

WOOSUNG – Chester S. “Chet” Rakowski, 63, of Woosung, died Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at his home. He worked for the Dixon Cement Plant for 22 years before retiring.

Chet was born May 19, 1950, in Dixon, the son of John and Lucille K. (Zimmerman) Rakowski. He served in the Army National Guard. He married Edna Ragan on May 25, 1985, in Dixon.

Survivors include his wife of Woosung; three sons, Shawn (Jennifer) Longanecker of Bettendorf, Iowa, Chad (Hanna) Rakowski of Rockford, and David (Jadine) Rakowski of Florida; one daughter, Jennifer (Jason Proffitt) Rakowski of Plainfield; two brothers, Joseph (Yvonne) Rakowski of Ohio, and Dennis (Donna) Rakowski of Naperville; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dalmus Meeks, pastor of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded.

A memorial has been established.
