LANSDALE, Pa. – Mildred G. Hedgspeth Martenson, formerly of rural Dixon, passed away Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, in Lansdale, Pa.

She was the daughter of Fannie L. (Whitlock) and William Haden Hedgspeth. Mildred was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Attilla, Ky., and moved with her parents to Illinois when she was very young. She attended schools in the Walnut area.

Surviving her are her daughter, Carla Blumenfeld, and son-in-law, retired Army Lt. Col. Charles Blumenfeld Jr., both of Pennsylvania; daughter-in-law, Denise (Martenson) Crisler of Florida; and six grandchildren, Kimberly (Blaine) Smith, Lt. Col. Charles "Gus" Blumenfeld III, Carl (Chris) Blumenfeld, Andrea (Blumenfeld) Ciuca, retired Air Force Master Sgt. Darren Martenson, and Erik Martenson. Also surviving her are 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. Martenson; and son, Darwin E. Martenson.

A picnic will be at 1 p.m. Sunday and a remembrance time at approximately 1:45 p.m. Sunday at Centennial Park in Rock Falls. Burial of ashes will be at a later date at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Sterling. There will be no graveside service.
