Jackie V. Rippy Sr.

CLEVELAND, Texas – Jackie Vernon Rippy Sr., 82, of Cleveland, Texas, formerly of Sterling, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013, at his home.

He was born May 14, 1931, in Malbern, the son of Harold and Violet Rippy. He was a steel mill worker by trade, and retired from Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. Jackie had a passion for fishing. Everyone knew he was a fisherman, including his buddy and pal, “Major,” his Irish Setter who would hop in the boat and go fishing, too. He had a knack for building things; he was very creative. His family was the light of his life. He will be remembered lovingly.

Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Judith Ann Williamson-Rippy; sons, Jackie Rippy Jr., James Rippy, Timothy Rippy, David Rippy, and Brian Williams; daughters, Cheryl Denning, Vicki Bertolet, Lizann Williams, Windy Johnston, Lori Estrada, Shelly Williams, Christine Hayes, Rebecca Whetstone, and Lisa Stewart; brother, Larry Rippy; sister, Jeanie Cushing; 31 grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other cherished family members and treasured friends.

He was preceded him in death by his parents; his son, Ricky Rippy; and two brothers, Robert Rippy and Paul Rippy.

A memorial service will be at a later date. Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Cleveland, Texas, is handling arrangements.
