Hometown girl kicks off album tour here

Christian singer, songwriter and worship leader has three albums under her belt

STERLING – Christian singer, songwriter, pianist and worship leader Julie (Neahring) Bernstein, now of Charlottesville, Va., is returning to her hometown today to kick off her Midwest “Homecoming Tour.”

Bernstein is a 1992 Sterling High School graduate and the daughter of longtime SHS teacher John Neahring and his wife, Barbara, of Sterling.

She began writing her own music about 5 years ago and released her debut CD “Out of the Deep” in 2011. She has since released the CD “Awaken Me” and an EP called “Fire in the Night,” available on iTunes and Amazon.

Bernstein will perform her original songs as well as some traditional favorites at four free concerts in Sterling: at 7 tonight at East Jordan United Methodist Church, 22027 Polo Road, her childhood church; at 7 p.m. Saturday at Grandon Civic Center downtown; at 10:45 a.m. Sunday back at the church, and at 7 p.m. Thursday at Air Play Sports, 115 E. Third St.

The tour is coming in advance of her fourth CD; copies of her previous CDs will be available at all concerts.
