Where to park downtown during festival

DIXON – Parking headaches were an all-too-common occurrence during Petunia Festivals past.

With this year’s festival board moving the Taste Trail and entertainment downtown, the festival board said parking should not be as much of an issue because patrons will be using public or business parking lots, or street parking.

The parking area within the festival area on River Street will not be available to the public.

The parking area with 22 spaces in front of the KSB Town Square Center, 102 S. Hennepin Ave., will be for handicapped patrons, while the 24-spot parking area next to the river on the corner of Galena and River will be VIP and sponsor parking.

The largest available parking lots include a 48-space municipal lot at Peoria Avenue and First Street, 51 spaces in a lot at Ottawa Avenue and Second Street behind the Historic Dixon Theatre, a lot with 31 spaces at Hennepin Avenue and Second Street next to the Public Safety Building, and a lot of 38 spaces at the same corner next to the library.
