STERLING – Ruby May Black, 90, of Sterling, died Sunday, June 30, 2013, at Coventry Living Center. Ruby worked for Frantz Manufacturing for 20 years until her retirement.

She was born May 5, 1923, in Sterling, a daughter of Lloyd J. and Bertha M. (Sell) Ryan. She married Donald A. Black on Aug. 14, 1963, in Morrison. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1997. Ruby was a member of First Christian Church in Sterling.

Survivors include her daughter, Lou Holder of Petal, Miss.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by her parents, a son, James Lyle Scott; four brothers; three sisters; and a son-in-law.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, and the funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with Leo Patterson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the American Legion Scholarship Fund.
