Old Settlers Days in Lanark

LANARK – Old Settlers Days, which offers a carnival, an antique tractor show and pull, a car show, an antiques sale, a craft sale, a bag tourney, a horseshoe tourney, live music, bed races, tractor pulls, a parade, a beer garden, food, and much, much more, begins in earnest today and runs through Sunday at City Park, at the corner of North Boyd and West Claremont streets.

Fifth Fridays, Dog Days and all that jazz

STERLING – Fourth Fridays: Where People and Art Collide brings art and music to a variety of downtown venues. Most events are from 6 to 8 p.m., although many places have musicians performing into the night.

Today, the start of Dog Days, you can bring your dog and follow the Trail of Treats paw prints throughout the downtown. Go to or find it on Facebook for all the details.

Saturday, there's a 2K Run for the Paws run/walk benefit for Happy Tails at 8 a.m. at Grandon. Cost is $20, which includes a T-shirt, and pets are welcome. From 9 a.m. to noon, there will be pet-friendly vendors, activities, demonstrations, giveaways and more at Grandon. At 7:30 p.m., return to Grandon for a free concert by the Rock River Jazz Band.

Sterling Street Faire

STERLING – The new Sterling Street Faire will be open from 3 to 7 p.m. today and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of West Third Street.

For $25, for-profit vendors can get a 10-by-20-foot space on a first-come, first-served basis. Nonprofits can sell for free, and admission is free to shoppers.

For Wounded Warriors

MOUNT MORRIS – A poker run and rock concert to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sharky’s Sports Bar and Grill, 3 N. Wesley Ave.

Sign up at 10 a.m., the run begins at noon, and last vehicle must be in by 6 p.m. Cost is $15, which includes a pig roast and the concert. Classic rock band Audiodrive plays from 7 to 8:45 p.m., followed by nationally known rockers Wayland.

Admission to the concert only is $10 for 21 and older.

There will be a food court, and the Mount Morris Moose Club is hosting campers and serving breakfast Sunday morning, for a fee. Call 815-734-6808 for more information.

Tractor show in Sandwich

SANDWICH – The 42nd annual Sandwich Early Day Engine and Tractor Club Show featuring International Harvester machines, takes over the fairgrounds at 1401 Suydam Road this weekend.

A consignment auction starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, and there's a kiddie tractor pull and tractor parades. Sunday offers Rock Country Pullers garden and tractor pulls, another kiddie tractor pull and a tractor ride.

Throughout both days, there will be horse-drawn wagon rides; gas engines, tractors and machinery on display; a working sawmill; a toy show; a flea moarket; an antique truck display; and activites for the kids.
