Sale will benefit storm victims

STERLING – Among the July events planned at Whiteside County Senior Center, 1207 W. Ninth St., are a bake sale and auction.

A benefit bake sale will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. The money raised will be donated to the Oklahoma communities damaged by tornadoes.

The Great Treasure Hunt and Auction will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 20. There will be a 50/50 drawing, face painting, and a dunk tank featuring Doug Vandersee, Tina Shoffner, and Brandon McDaniel. Hot dogs with chips and a pop will be sold. Anything left at 3 p.m. will be up for auction.

Cousins Day will be at 11 a.m. July 24. The one bringing the most cousins will win a prize.

Dr. John Hahn, ophthalmologist, will present the “Aging Eye,” at 10:45 a.m. July 25. Cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration will be discussed.

Showtime is at 12:30 p.m. Friday. The movie, “Life of Pi,” and the popcorn are free.
