Alicia Yocom, a foster care worker with the Youth Service Bureau, was awarded the Social Worker of the Year Award.

Yocum was recognized during the National Foster Parent Association 43rd National Education Conference luncheon June 5-8 in Long Beach, Calif.

Awards honored those who have contributed outstanding service to the NFPA, foster parents at the state or local level, or the children in their care.

Yocom of Princeton works with children and families in Lee, Whiteside, Carroll, and Ogle counties.

She attended several workshops during the conference, covering topics for adoptive parents, kinship caregivers, and agency professionals whose work with children and families is essential to their well-being.
