STERLING – The Parents as Teachers First Years Program, administered by the Whiteside County Regional Office of Education, received a Quality Endorsement from the Parents as Teachers National Center. The award was presented June 17.

The group meets 97 percent of the Parents as Teachers quality standards at a sufficient level, including the Parents as Teachers Essential Requirements. The endorsement is earned for up to a 5-year period, as long as the affiliate remains in good standing.

The WCROE began providing the Parents as Teachers program for families with young children who live in Whiteside County in 1989.

During the 2012-13 school year, 63 families with 80 children younger than 3 participated in the program.

For more information about the program, call the ROE at 815-625-1495.
