DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) – Police say a 25-year-old Davenport woman was shot to death, and a Davenport man was arrested across the Mississippi River in Illinois.

The Quad-City Times reports that officers responding to a report of a shooting found Amanda Abbott dead at a Davenport address shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday.

Police have not released details of the shooting, but neighbors say they heard screaming before Abbott was found shot.

Hours later, police in Milan arrested 22-year-old Albert “A.J.” Coats at a trailer park. Police say Coats initially refused to come out of a trailer home, but was soon taken into custody.

He remains in the Rock Island County Jail awaiting extradition to Iowa on warrants charging him with second-degree murder and other counts.
