STERLING – Ten bright-eyed children from Uganda will share their authentic song and dance with the Sauk Valley.

The Ugandan Orphans Choir performs July 10 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Sterling.

The choir is a ministry of Childcare Worldwide, which serves children in nine developing countries.

The children are ambassadors of hope for needy children around the world. They embody how sponsorship empowers impoverished children through education – making them employable and giving them an opportunity for a better future.

The orphans live in one of the Childcare Worldwide villages on the Ssese Islands on Lake Victoria in Uganda and travel the world to give performances. They stay with host families while on the road.

Messiah Lutheran Church seats 500 people, and presenters hope to pack the house.

“This could be the only chance that someone has to experience something like this,” said Patti Puckett, church secretary.
