STERLING – The Whiteside County Regional Office of Education received a $12,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.

The money will be used to fund the ROE’s Whiteside County Family Literacy Partnership’s family literacy program. The intensive, center-based program offers adult basic education and English as a second language for families of the county with children ages birth to 5.

The WCFLP family literacy program is a collaboration between Head Start, Sterling Public Library, Sauk Valley Community College, and the Whiteside County Regional Office of Education.

Flexible daily programming includes adult education, early childhood education, parenting education, and literacy-based interactive activities for parents and their children.
