STERLING – Northland Mall is razing a long-vacant building, but officials are tight-lipped on plans for the site in the east end of its parking lot.
Denver-based Herzog & Sons Inc. owns the mall, and also the building at 2930 E. Lincolnway, which has been empty more than 10 years, said Karyn Brouilette, Northland’s general manager.
Tires Plus last occupied the 9,600-square-foot building, which is original to the 40-year-old mall, Brouilette said.
J.C. Penney owned the building at the time; she does not know how long the mall has owned it, she said.
Coleta-based Specialized Construction Corp. began demolition last week; it will be done in the next 2 weeks, Brouilette said.
She declined to say whether another building or business is taking its place.
